Yes it's true....
Yes it's true...EAST LA REP has finally landed...and I'm very excited to share with you all our new home - we even have an office.
While working on another project I met
Lou Calanche, Executive Director of Legacy LA...
She showed me her space at the former Hazard Park Armory and long-story-short asked East LA Rep to become it's resident theatre company and main arts provider...We could not pass this opportunity up
and said YES!...East LA Rep has performed at parks, street corners, taco stands, temples and a former funeral home so it makes sense that we land at
the armory.
We moved in June, but have been hard at work painting and planning...also, on July 9th
we received our 501(c)3 non-profit status...
To celebrate East LA Rep will have a fundraiser pachanga on Oct. 8, 2010 hosted by
Sandra Islas and her organization LPAN (Latino Producers Action Network) with proceeds going toward our first production in three years, The Rosalila by Fanny Garcia and directed by
Luis Alfaro.
I hope you can make it out to help us celebrate our new home, our new partnership and our new future...and please come on by and meet some of East LA Rep's newest members.
abrazos,
Jesus.
